Molly's is a small cafe in Quezon City's New Manila neighborhood. I often pass by this cafe on my way to the grocery store or church, but haven't found the time to check it out.
One Monday, as I was driving around looking for a spot to hang out or maybe get some work done while waiting for the kids to finish school, I passed by the area and decided right then and there to visit the cafe.
Molly's stands out because there aren't a lot of commercial establishments in this area. You'd typically have to go to nearby Aurora Boulevard for that. Moreover, it just looks nice from outside. It's a wonderful contrast to all the big townhouses surrounding it.
It seats up to 8 people inside and 4 outside. Overall, it's got a very relaxing and neighborly feel, which I really like.
I ordered Molly's dark mocha (P195). There wasn't anyone else inside when I arrived, but about 5-10 minutes later the place got packed. My order arrived in a 12 or 14 oz glass, along with a glass of water, as well as a free sample of their bread pudding, which the barista said is one of their signature items.
The coffee was pretty good. I liked the taste of the dark chocolate they used, while the cold foam added an interesting texture. The bitterness to sweetness ratio was on point. Since my order was iced, the taste eventually got diluted, but I could imagine how good it was if it came hot.
Meanwhile, the bread budding was also very good. It reminded me of the bread pudding that my wife made back in the pandemic, when we had a lot of time in the house to do fun stuff as we worked from home. I didn't get the price, though, as it wasn't on the menu.
Even if the place was packed, it didn't feel crowded at all. I was even able to get some work done. Service was excellent. They also offer decaf on all their espresso-based drinks (+P75).
I could imagine coming back here often to work, procrastinate (or both), and to hang out with family and friends as it's quite near where we live. I look forward to trying out other items in their menu.
